The application submitted by Fractalis is as follows:
Part 1 - Out-of-Character (OOC) Questions
What is your character's name, as it appears on the Character Selection screen? Please include any special characters exactly as they appear.:
Fractalis
Are you over 18? (We may make an exception for younger players, but due to mature/adult themes presented in some of our storylines/RP activity, an OOC interview is required!):
Yes
How long have you played WoW?:
I started Retail in mid 2017 and then quit by the end of BFA. I think I only liked Legion rather than WoW in general...but then I'd discovered Epsilon sometime in 2020 and I most definitely do like Epsilon.
Tell us a little about your roleplay experience- preferred styles, themes, etc.:
Almost nine years on the dot now, cut my teeth in RuneScape when it had a community back then. As far as what I like -- most anything that has proper character and creativity put into it. Say if I want to do something with someone, I'm the kind of person who usually defaults to the other's oldest character, because I like that depth and nuance and layers. But I don't ever take things too seriously, it's just a game at the end of the day. A pretty time consuming way to play a game at that, too. So I usually avoid combat RP because that tends to take the longest, especially when I don't particularly care for /rolling. Smaller scale scenes with people who won't hold it against you when you're an adult and can't see a several hour scene through in one sitting. That's my speed. Far as themes goes...most anything except that grimdark stuff because it goes back to being boringly serious. High fantasy pie in the sky, adventure, mystery, romance, whatever.
Please tell us a little about your previous guild experience. Have you ever been a guild leader or officer?:
I've never really been in any guilds on Epsilon at all. One or two years ago on Retail, I don't even remember the names.
Why would you like to join our guild and roleplay with us? What makes a guild atmosphere "good" for you?:
The person is more important than the mask. I've seen head turning TRP profiles with insufferable people behind them and pretty barebones "where's the effort?" TRP profiles with lovely fantastic writers behind them. I think a good atmosphere is, on an IC level, one where people are properly focused on the scene at hand and care more for the quality of the scene than the quantity of attention upon their own self. On an OOC level, rather analogous I would say. A good atmosphere entails just as much effort put into personal conversations because I don't really get enthused over the people who behave something like AI bots for RP. Sometimes it seems like in these kinds of communities some people forget how to properly deal with people and that's a problem for me sometimes, because I'm an outgoing person with strong opinions but I always mean well.
Is this character an alt, or a main? We strongly prefer mains. If it is an alt, how can you assure us that you'll be an active member?:
Main.
Our monthly schedule is usually as follows: social rp every Tuesday, Literary Conclave twice a month on Thursdays, & Debate and Colloquium on the second and third Wednesdays, respectively. This is not including any storylines which may be ongoing. Do:
I think the last sentence cut off but I can get a good couple-few sessions in a month, especially if I can be confident it'll be quality.
Are you willing and able to assist before/during community events to keep them running smoothly? :
I can try, prior lack of experience notwithstanding.
If your application is accepted, you will be contacted via Discord by an officer to schedule an in-character intake meeting. Please leave your Discord tag below so that we may be able to reach out.:
Fractalis#1656
Part 2 - In-Character (IC) Questions: Please answer from your character's point of view, as you would in roleplay!
What is your full name, title, and preferred pronouns?:
"Fractalis -- they/them"
What race & class do you identify as? ( If either of these are outside normal game mechanics, please elaborate with a brief explanation! We are more than open to exotic characters, and characters of either faction, and encourage creativity. ):
"I recall mentioning that Iv'adhun and I have a manner of mutual respect that only, shall we say, rather interesting folks like us can have for one another. I might have been hesitant to follow through with this if not for his presence here, truthfully, as I'm supposing he went through this same process and divulged details of his own colorful past.
<A collection of ink dots litter the beginning of a would-be line, hinting of hesitance still yet before the letter continued below.>
I have a rather exclusive ability to manipulate the energies of Life in particular ways and have ultimately paid the price for becoming too well versed with my gifts. Once I -- to be brief -- collected souls and not in a burn-them-up-for-energy way that Fel does. The souls of the wicked yet also the willing. Somewhere along the line, I wish I could tell you where precisely, my own identity merged beyond separation into this collective of memories from the others in my gestalt. Yet, I am but one individual with a finite space in my head and try as I might, to no avail do I succeed in ever returning what I think was once "me" into this head, and expelling the rest to memory phylacteries. I no longer try.
Race? Apologies for this obtuse answer, but I'm afraid I'm not going to be winning any races with this much baggage. Though I can at least assure you I am more than skilled with matters of the Arcane and Life and have an expertise in applying these in guerilla warfare tactics. A "rogue mage" of sorts."
What is your current profession?:
"A charade of pretending to be a normal adventurer."
What position do you desire to fill at Stormwind University?:
Counselor
Why do you wish to work for Stormwind University? What do you bring, as an individual, that will make our university better?:
"The above answer may seem ironic at first given what's been written further above, however nothing about my demeanor when we spoke in person was a facade. We'd spoke on the idea of acceptance being intrinsic to success and I have accepted that my accidentally self-imposed condition has paradoxically made me both alienated from the world at large and yet outlyingly empathetic. "I" have experienced this world through the eyes of so many people and felt their emotions as my own. It's more than simple understanding and compassion.
But I don't think anyone else will ever even understand me, never mind empathize with me. This makes it all but impossible to be truly attached and partial to any particular person. I do not begrudge it. It is the consequences of my actions. I am now the impartial observer. The outsider looking in. These bright pupils, young as they are, many problems look like mountains to them but they are pebbles to me. I will do what I must to show them the multitude of perspectives to any and every scenario in life. I will help them shrink those mountains."
What relevant experience do you have for this position? Please describe a recent situation that would apply.:
"The most significant bulk of experience with applying my abilities was during the Kaldorei refugee crisis. I never sought employment but those big lovely eyes of those people are so emotive. You know what they're feeling when you look at them. You might think they all had the same trauma but Teldrassil's loss was only the core. Some were traumatized physically with broken bodies, others physically unscathed but within a dark night of the soul. Was I miracle worker and turned tears of sorrow into joy? Of course not. But new perspectives were the seeds of their own personal world tree. I distinctly remember a Sentinel whom was paralyzed from the waist down during the war. I felt for her deeply and I helped her feel the blessing of having the strong help the needy. She was once the strong who helped the needy, but in the back of her mind she'd always wondered how much others really thought of her when she helped them -- or if they simply took her for granted. The situations reversed, then, and then there was no longer any way she could deny that she was a hero when she helped those needy kindred. She felt first hand the disarming selfless love of those who live a life of service and knew she'd been a hero -- and always would be.
Perhaps that was a little while ago by now rather than recent but it is one of my fondest memories; showing this hero she really was one, and still was."
How did you first discover Stormwind University?:
"The seventh year anniversary gala -- last night!"
