Breakthrough
"An interconnected network of processing power. Raw thought and psyche completely irrelevant at such a point. With every core on the same foci... it would be unrivaled. A vast network of information acquired by me over the years. Each word of every book within my shelves attainable at my fingertips. And with each construct I build to fit into this array, I add more processing power. Slowly it would give rise to an entirely new way of thinking. Even the most idiotic of souls could become an expansive source of knowledge."
"It starts with you."
"Miss Vela, don't you believe there would be some vulnerabilities to such an idea?"
"Of course there will be. No matter what, it will be difficult to attain complete success with such an idea, but I believe it is imperative."
"Miss Vela, the cons may be greater than the pros in a matter such as this. You are 'wiring' your brain beyond your cohesive form. That sounds quite dangerous."
"I understand the pros and cons of such a matter, Altariveren. I am mentally strong enough to handle them. Think of how much more mentally strong I could be. -We- could be."
"Would we share thoughts?"
"Along with every other construct I designate to this array."
"Perhaps with enough, you may actually achieve your goal."
"Then just think of how I could expand upon such an idea in the future. A corporeal form of consciousness, synchronizing all memories, thoughts, and ideas through the network."
Vela sighed aloud, and grabbed hold of the crystalline orb before her, looking at Iveren from across it.
"Are you prepared?"
"As ready for experimentation as ever, Miss Vela."
Vela nodded and closed her eyes. She began whispering the long, drawn-out incantation to herself. It seemed like hours, almost, as she spoke. Her voice shuddered and cracked from the fear of what may come of this burdenous spell, but she remained steadfast. The ideas of a controversial scientist would forever propel her into danger with each experiment she placed upon herself.
"Asjem schulje-"
As Vela spoke the final words, the orb came alight with a vast radiation of arcane magic. Vela herself, however, seemed frozen in place. She stared blankly forward, within the span of the magical crystal before her.
"Altariveren?" Vela spoke, without her mouth even moving.
"Miss Vela?" Iveren replied, his construct form unlit and unwaking from its state.
"It is like I hear you in my head... did... it work?"
"I believe you acquired some measure of success. Why don't you look and see?"
Soon, Vela's eyes opened, and she looked around. Her movements seemed a little inhuman, almost. She raised her arms and looked at her palms. Iveren, across from her, seemed to match her same movements. Vela began to laugh in victory, growing into a full-on cackle of sorts.
"Altariveren! Do you know what this means? It... it really worked. It really worked-"
At that moment, Iveren raised a fist and slapped himself across his own face. Vela, quite unwillingly, mimicked his same action.
"Ow!"
"Forgive me. I had to. It is what your father would have wanted me to do if you found some success with his theories."
Vela shakes her head, chuckling.
"There seem to be some kinks in the system to work out. But we should be able to figure them out in no time. This is a breakthrough, Altariveren."
Vela moved forward to try and hug the robotic construct before her- only to be met with him performing the same action. She tried to adjust her arms to slot in with his, but as they mirrored one another, she found no success.
"...We will save that for later, then."
