The Path of Va’el
In the beginning there was primordial chaos, predator or prey...one such creature was more prone to the bloodthirsty and more feral viciousness that is becoming of a predator...she was cannibalistic and ruthless, she was apex incarnate ...She was Va’el. Unlike most of her kind Va’el yearned and hungered for the hunt, for the thrill and adrenaline, the blood. She stalked the forests seeking any within her path.
A goddess soon came to Va’el’s kind...the shimmering silvery blue starlight that would spark a transformation of their people...but Va’el didn’t see that...no instead she saw a silvery crimson..a call to another aspect of this deity...not the bright glow of the moon, but a deep blood red moon, a calling to something else.
Many Many moons passed, and the night elven civilisation prospered, most of the creatures took upon themselves the image of their new found goddess, so too did Va’el...her body and mind were different...but her skills remained, she became more intelligent and refined, but deep down that feral nature still stood, that willingness for blood. A bargain soon took place, the mother moon looked down upon her, seeing potential and strength...To serve her in secret to expel forces that threatened her will, for this Va’el became something more..far past just a night elf, she became a Vampyr..not undead at all, but blood thirsty all the same. Thus begins the story of Valayrn Valley-Rose, Priestess of the Blood Moon.
Valayrn stood tall, hands high as she channeled her divine blood magic’s, the other priestess's stood similar in a circle before her, the blood well glowed and sethed with dark reds and silvery shimmers, they chanted and prayed to their goddess Elune, a vision to guide their paths and to seek out the tasks she needed.
*snap* all ears flicked and eyes glanced over briefly to the nearby bushes, where four small heads poked through.
Valaryn - “Come forward younglings...you are not in trouble..but still this is a secret meeting not meant to be known to those that would not understand…” her voice strong and forceful.
The bushes rustle as the four young girls stepped forward, Sanzune and Meadows Sea-Grass, Kievvi Eastless and Voerry Vepri, all of them cousins for the Valley-Rose bloodline had many offshoots by this point, in fact the six elven women present were descendants of the high priestess. They stumbled forward the dread of getting caught in their eyes.
Valayrn narrowed her eyes, “There is no sense standing there gawking young ones...come and aid what you can to your mothers for the ritual.” she then closed her eyes and resumed the chanting and prayer.
Salamure Sea-Grass smiled as her girls took place beside her, “We told you to stay home and not to follow us this night..but still, I am glad you are here to see what birthright is before you..now raise your arms towards the blood well and feel for our goddess’s presence...beg her for guidance and clarity.”
The girls did as they were told each straining with their will and being, Soon the swirling within the well grew, it churned and boiled...a crimson mist rose into a cloud above, all eyes stared..waiting...until the mist started to shift, silhouettes took shape, most of the women saw visions of their own, but Valaryn, Salamure and the girls saw the same thing, dark writhing figures that spread across the world, their many followers and creations the silhouettes of deep purples and sickly blacks, but then there was another figure...one of a bright golden yellow glow..it was a woman of sorts..and she led armies of orange behind her, the elves saw themselves standing beside her, soon the dark figures and most of the orange ones vanished...but so too did the golden yellow one...giving her life to save many.
The mist subsided and everyone’s vision came back to normal..there was a silence as they all stood to take in what was given to them, Valayrn spoke out, “My sisters, I thank you for the joining of this evening...and I hope you carry out your destiny's well..Elune’s will be done.” she smiled and bowed as they all went about conversing with each other, then looked over to the Sea-Grass family, “It would seem we have been given the same task..even you, young ones...the mother moon favours you in this important destiny...for I see this vision to be a dark one indeed...when the time comes you will know what it means..but for now I have much work to be done.” Valayrn bowed again and strode off.
The two young girls looked at each other wide eyed, excitement evident on their faces, “When do you think we leave!” “I hope soon..we’ve been practicing sword fighting with dad and I bet we can take on any bad evils!” Salamure chuckled at them, “Now now...we don’t know when this will take place...and I know that I should make certain you two are ready for that day but for now it’s dinner time...come along.”
Valayrn spent many more moons in service of Elune’s will, destroying evil where it cropped up, and over time became aware of the true evil she saw long ago..the Old Gods and their Twilight servants, but she couldn’t take them on alone...not even with all of her priestesses...she would have to take them down from within...slowly chipping away over time until the time and place the vision would come to pass. She had to walk among them...do as they do...even if she didn’t like it, it would pay off surely she thought..sacrifices had to be made to ensure the future of all living things.
When Valaryn wasn’t walking the shadows of various evils she would also do a lot of adventuring, helping those in need and making lots of friends along the way, on one such night she would venture deep into the gilnean countryside, where her good friend, a human harvest witch lived, Lanaria Luanna, whom had given birth to a baby girl and Valayrn wished to see and grant her Elunes blessing.
Val strolled down along the dirt path, her mixture of ceremonial cloth and heavy plate shimmering in the moonlight, it was a bright night for the moon was full, the forest sounds around her and the cool breeze brought peace to her mind..yet something was amiss..something in the back of her mind was swirling...she shrugged it off and kept going, soon reaching the small house, brambles climbed and covered much of it..an air of magic swirled around the area, she was excited to see her old friend once again. Valayrn knocked on the door, its old wood creaking with each hit, it opened and there stood Luanna’s husband a roguish sailor with a hand in sea magic, his bright blonde hair tied back, Elliot...and his brother Fevierx Corvna who wore dark fancy clothes, jet black hair with trimmed beard, Something about him never set well with Valaryn...his hand in powerful magic’s and even more powerful business experience..not to mention being a highly positioned tide sage..she smiled warmly and walked in, “Where is she? Doing well I hope.”
Elliot chuckled, “Aye, she’s jus upstairs with tha little one..I’m sure she’s waiting fer yah.”
Reaching the top of the stairs Valayrn saw Lanaria sitting in bed, her little girl in one arm, she was cute and definitely took after both her parents very well..her hair a bright yellow blonde...Val stopped at that...she looked over the child..that nagging in the back of her head now clearing a bit…
“Valley? You alright love?” Val blinked, “Yes...I was just...she’s so adorable...do you have a name for her yet?”
“I sure do...this little sweet thing...we named her Moniea Luanna...I believe she’s too be a powerful witch or sorceress one day...I must warn you to leave any magicy things by tha door..little bugger’s been sucking not only mah teet but anything magic around her...odd thing that...the boys down stairs want a closer look but ah shoo’d em off for now.”
Valaryn came closer, there was a slight pull towards the child...yes...she thought...this is the silhouette she saw...this, was that golden yellow figure.
