Part 1 - OOC Questions
What is your character's name, as it appears on the Character Selection screen? Please include any accented characters exactly as they appear.:
Are you over 18? (We may make an exception for younger players, but due to mature/adult themes presented in some of our storylines/RP activity, an OOC interview is required!):
How long have you played WoW? Would you consider yourself a more casual or hardcore player, in terms of activity?:
I've played WoW since April of 2005, so that makes a little over 13 years. At the moment I consider myself to be more of a casual player, but in previous expansions I'd say that I was definitely more adamant about signing on and getting immersed in the content. My player status is subject to change, however. It really depends on what the game continues to offer.
Can you tell us a little about your roleplaying experience? Do you have a preferred style?:
My roleplaying experience spans back to about 9 to 10 years, and it's quite fluid. Initially I preferred antagonistic, complex styles which involved a lot of deception and blind devotion to some sort of cause, but then I opened my doors to different genres, all of which I now openly embrace. As for the temperament of my characters, they all tend to converge regardless of the genre played. I really enjoy acting out scholarly, wisecrack type roles, which I think would be well suited for this organization.
Please tell us a little about your previous guild experience. Have you ever been a guild leader or officer?:
I've been apart of numerous guilds in the past, both RP and PVE; however I wouldn't say that I've played any massively substantial roles in any of the guilds other than organizing small events and aiding with recruitment. I've been both a guild leader and an officer, but the guilds that I ran were quite small and very closed-knit. I have also been an officer of a couple of different guilds.
Are you new to Wyrmrest Accord (US)? If not, what other roleplay guilds have you belonged to on WrA?:
I've been on Wyrmrest Accord for about 4-5 years, so I guess that's not too new. I can't really recall the names of the guilds I was involved in on this server as it's been a while since I've seriously participated. The only notable guilds that I recall being apart of are a few on Moon Guard. I can tell you more about those if you're interested.
Why would you like to join our guild and roleplay with us? What makes a guild atmosphere "good" for you?:
I'm currently filling this application out during the silent gaps of a "Stormwind University" hosted, debate event. I admire artists, scientists and deep thinkers. Individuals who put time and effort into the things that they do and say. At first glance, this guild falls nothing short of being all of the above. I particularly enjoy the amount of professionalism and order that is demonstrated by this organization, and I truly understand the difficulty imposed by those sorts of tasks. I think that these, along with a few other key elements make a "good" guild atmosphere--key elements which also include player activity, regularly hosted events and a strong storyline. I'm somewhat of a recent university graduate myself (it's been about a year and a half), and the structure of the guild really makes me reminisce over those past experiences which I really enjoyed.
Is this character an alt, or a main? We strongly prefer mains. If it is an alt, how can you assure us that you'll be an active member?:
This character is a new main (previously mained a rogue on Horde).
Part 2 - RP Questions
What is your full name and title?:
Uthandar Valos - Philosopher/Researcher/Neurobiologist
What race do you identify as? What is your "class"? ((If either or both of these are outside of the normal game mechanics, please elaborate and provide a brief explanation!)):
What is your profession, and what academic subject would you like to teach? Can you tell us a little about your expertise with this subject?:
Uthandar is somewhat a new role-playing work-in-progress, but I'm starting to get a better image of who I'd like him to be. He is a philosopher and a scholar of cognition, behavior and physics. From his experiences in dissecting and closely examining humanoid brains, and conducting live experimentation, he strives towards understanding the parts of the brain conducive to certain behaviors and abilities, as well as how to amplify or remedy the consequences imposed by such parts through a combination of science and arcane intelligence.
Why do you wish to be a professor at Stormwind University? What can you as an individual bring to our University community to make it better?:
Uthandar strongly believes in the importance of intersecting subjects in order to further explore subjects beyond the fundamentals. As the universe is made up of millions of components, it's necessary to bring together experts from a variety of fields in order to understand the universe as a whole. I would like to be a professor at the Stormwind University in order to share my experiences and discoveries, and to hear the experiences of others, in order to build upon this web of understanding.
Please briefly describe a recent experience involving your profession or academic subject.:
In a recent encounter with one of his experimental subjects, Uthandar noticed that regularly pondering solutions to an already concluded, strategic puzzle led his subject to provide highly accurate solutions to different puzzle challenges. By incorporating his knowledge of physics and cognition, he hypothesizes that the mind is not bound to the constraints of time, and that it is in fact a single entity that is capable of communicating information through space at higher speeds when regularly exercised, giving the illusion of being able to "see the future". In other words, he believes that the mind is able to see the future, by the "future" mind being able to think of solutions to the past and communicating such to the "past" mind.
How did you first discover Stormwind University? What interested you the most about us and led you to apply? :
I discovered it through a public event that was advertised in the city. I became interested in applying when I saw that there was a community that revered the knowledge of things and teaching those things to one another. I'm a sucker for fun role-play and for new perspectives. There's no better combination than the marriage of the two I suppose.
((It has been over one week's time since the IC, in-game Letter of Acceptance has been sent to the applicant! I'm willing to grant a little extra time and leniency, as we've just had a busy Thanksgiving weekend!
I will be sending a follow-up letter, with a timeframe set forth to allow one week longer for response time from the applicant! If we don't hear back by the end of that period, I'll have no choice but the close this application, albeit without prejudice.))
((EDIT: The following in-game, IC letter has been sent to the applicant!))
Greetings, Sir Uthandar Valos!
I send this letter as a follow-up to the initial Letter of Acceptance I'd sent in regard to your application!
Please do let us know if you remain interested in the offer! If so, we will schedule you for an Intake Meeting as soon as is convenient for both parties.
If not, then please disregard and I thank you for your initial interest in Stormwind University!
