Part 1 - OOC Questions
What is your character's name, as it appears on the Character Selection screen? Please include any accented characters exactly as they appear.:
Russtyy
Are you over 18? (We may make an exception for younger players, but due to mature/adult themes presented in some of our storylines/RP activity, an OOC interview is required!):
Yes
How long have you played WoW? Would you consider yourself a more casual or hardcore player, in terms of activity?:
I have played WoW on and off for about 5 years.
The past 2 years have been very active in the RP realm.
Can you tell us a little about your roleplaying experience? Do you have a preferred style?:
My role playing experience In game includes 2 years of heavy active RP.
Out of game I have played D&D for about 8 years both as player and DM.
Please tell us a little about your previous guild experience. Have you ever been a guild leader or officer?:
A few notable guilds I have been involved in include Easteye company, The 73rd, and Tradewind Bilgerats. I have not performed as an officer in these guilds although I do lead a guild for RP on an alt. My involvement in these guilds has been very active though. I have planned events and been involved with both small character development stories and longer guild history based stories.
Are you new to Wyrmrest Accord (US)? If not, what other roleplay guilds have you belonged to on WrA?:
I am not new to WrA. Guilds I have belonged to include: Easteye company, The 73rd, Tradewind Bilgerats, The relic hunter society, and mythos bane.
Why would you like to join our guild and roleplay with us? What makes a guild atmosphere "good" for you?:
Stormwind university has been something that has fascinated me since I first attended one of the public forums. I had such a blast listening to the carefully and beautifully written stories from everyone involved. I love the lore of Warcraft, and I have a passion for writing which I believe will only grow in an environment this guild cultivates.
Is this character an alt, or a main? We strongly prefer mains. If it is an alt, how can you assure us that you'll be an active member?:
My character is a main, and I play around 2-3 hours Sunday-Wednesday, and 6+ hours Thursday,Friday, and Saturday. I thoroughly enjoy being actively engaged in guild events and just hanging out with fellow guild members!
Part 2 - RP Questions
What is your full name and title?:
Russell Smith
What race do you identify as? What is your "class"? ((If either or both of these are outside of the normal game mechanics, please elaborate and provide a brief explanation!)):
Human Hunter.
(Russell is an unafflicted Gilnean Beast Master literally, but barebones is Human Hunter)
What is your profession, and what academic subject would you like to teach? Can you tell us a little about your expertise with this subject?:
My character (Russell Smith) would also fit perfectly with the atmosphere mission of the guild as well. He is an SI:7 officer, who is moving away from the field and transitioning out of the service. He has learned much, being as his primary mission was intel. He is a practiced linguist, skilled in all Allliance languages, as well as a seasoned alchemist, medic, and beast trainer.
I would to teach a survival/environmental based subject, but I am also perfectly okay with a language studies area as well! If there is a need part of what my character has a lot of real world and education experience in is cultural studies as well. A lot of what Russell is educated or trained in is based around understanding the ins and outs of a culture or environment and learning to adapt to it or become part of it.
Why do you wish to be a professor at Stormwind University? What can you as an individual bring to our University community to make it better?:
Well aside from the excitement of being involved with educating and sharing experiences, I love the idea of being around like minded individuals who have a thirst for knowledge and imagination, both in and out of character. I believe I can offer a unique perspective on education and how the concepts practiced and taught, can be used in real life situations. Having seen a lot of what Azeroth has to offer, both the good and the bad, I have knowledge of these subjects on an intimate and personal level.
Please briefly describe a recent experience involving your profession or academic subject.:
Well as my academic subject I believe is, I would say ‘open’, I can describe some experience involving my profession. Still working as an active field officer for SI:7, I have a specific mission set: a group, or multiple groups, who are Horde sympathizers are providing supplies to the enemy. My job is to manage a team of operatives tasked with collecting Intel on the group suspected. These groups tend to be non-affiliated, typically pirates or bandits working for the highest bidder. Dude to the main driving force of these groups not being motivated by alligence or race, they often are mixed groups of both horde and alliance races. This provides me with a unique opportunity, and obstacle, of having to adapt to cross culture situations.
This type of experience is invaluable to many students looking for a trade in conflict resolution, or humanitarianism, even noble and leadership skills. It gives the opportunity to learn not just from a book, but what the books so often miss, the little nuances of everyday life in these situations.
How did you first discover Stormwind University? What interested you the most about us and led you to apply? :
I first discovered Stormwind University at one of the public forums behind the cathedral! It was truly and wonderful experience, and very well organized. My characters arc at the time wouldn’t provide me the opportunity to apply right there on the spot, but I wanted to! Now that my story has slowed down, One of the first things I wanted to do was make and introduction and hopefully join!
The Office of the Dean conditionally endorses this application.
((The "conditional" part for me is the mention of having an alt that manages RP for another guild. I would like to ensure that this won't pose any kind of problem or conflict of interest, prior to the applicant's Intake Meeting - provided the other Officers decide to endorse as well.))

Hello!
I am a bit late on response, simply because I was searching through the rules to make sure I utilized the proper channels. I hope this is acceptable! I wanted to address the concern about being an guild leader on an alt, and more specifically how this could impact my commitment to Stormwind University. The short answer is: It won't.
The guild that I was GM of is a smaller guild that consists primarily of my out of game friends and family. We do events and RP, but it is not a serious commitment from anyone involved, including myself. In fact I have already communicated my plans to move forward with Stormwind University, if accepted, to everyone. Someone else has already taken over the role as GM in that guild to make the process easier. (This was in the works prior, but the circumstances certainly helped motivate us to move it forward!)
Russell is my main and I spend far more time on him than any of my alts. I am very dedicated to his story and the commitments I undertake through him.
Hopefully that clears up any concerns! I have been regularly checking the forums since I posted my application (I believe 30 of the 40ish views are from me xD) and will continue to do so if any other questions arise!
Thank you!
-Russell
((Thank you for such a swift reply, and for clearing that concern up immediately! I have no problem now fully endorsing this application! Just waiting for one more Officer to weigh in on this application!))
