Stormwind University Event Policy
Event Policy
-
There is ONE "main storyline" arc that's prevalent throughout the University's active RP at any given time. This main storyline is intended to be a guild wide event and may run for many weeks or months. Once a conclusion has been reached, a new storyline will be introduced to the guild as a whole.
Main Storyline arcs are to be handled and planned by the Dean and Department Heads primarily, but other members may make suggestions or propose ideas at any time. These will be considered, and approved or declined, at the Dean and Department Heads discretion.
-
General RP storylines can be created and generated by ANY member of the guild. Many times, a lot of these story arcs are borne from daily, non-event RP and that's great!
HOWEVER - to prevent a massive accumulation of unresolved storylines, an endgame (resolution) MUST be in mind when newer "side quests" are created and shared!
-
"Quests" - both new and older - must incorporate ideas/concepts that involve general guild participation. Something that involves only two or three members cannot be considered a "guild quest". RP with who you like, of course, but it's unfair to do this then expect others to join in later with zero context to draw from.
-
We are to respect one another's "quest" ideas and group gatherings. No pulling people far and away from a main group (unless it's for agreed upon IC story purposes) just to grab and hold attention onto your character and their own agendas.
-
Roleplay collaborations can be fun, HOWEVER, before involving the University with another guild’s story approval from the Dean must be granted. Speak to the Dean or a Department Head to get your idea approved.
-
Alts must ALWAYS take a backseat to Main character involvement in storylines, except by express necessity and approval by your fellow guildmates and participants in said RP scenario or "quest". To switch an alt to a main and vice versa, please refer to our Stormwind University Alt Policy for more information.
-
If a member is unable to continue or fulfill their main role in an ongoing established storyline, then a workaround must be provided by those who remain and the scenario resolved in as reasonably and ICly logically a way as possible.
-
Guests and friends of the University faculty are not permitted to attend officially scheduled calendar events, unless said occasion is a community event intended for Open RP and invitation to the general IC public.
(Any exceptions to this will be announced, or when in doubt, ASK a Department Head!)
Regardless, YOU are held responsible for your friends' conduct in such situations. ("LOL but they won't leave!" isn't an acceptable excuse.) Consequently, flagrant abuse and disregard of this rule - at the discretion of the Dean and Department Heads - can and will result in your character's removal from the guild, both ICly and OOCly.
-
Members that consistently schedule/plan events and cancel (aside from RL circumstances and emergencies, of course!) will begin to receive a much lower priority on future event proposals within the guild, until eventually, said member(s) will no longer be permitted to run events on their own. This is to respect others' time and ability to attend scheduled/planned events, as well as to keep our guild schedule clear for others to use available dates and times for their own events.
-
Members cannot schedule or generate their own events if they haven't posted a Character Sheet for their involved RP toon on these forums. (This includes any formal courses one might be planning to actually teach!) In addition, any and all new faculty (ICly) must pass their probationary period (14 days) successfully, in order to be eligible for event creation and proposal. All other attendance and participation rules elsewhere stated also apply.
- Members creating a new storyline for the guild's participation must submit some form of story, posting or explanation here within the forums to illustrate the idea and event details before it can be scheduled and/or RP'd out. (Excluding random RP and random one-offs, however!) This can take virtually any form and doesn't require any sort of herculean effort on anyone's part. An OOC blurb is even acceptable, though IC is generally preferred! Also, do not feel obligated to provide scripting or even the conclusion of your event in said blurb. (No need for spoilers of those wonderfully crafted surprise endings! :D )
