Dance of two Wolves
The weather was perfect as Rachel was walking across campus. Students that pass would greet her as she did in return. Such a day would be perfect for her to take Simon off fishing. Nothing to her could make the day any better. Well to her it would be a nap under a tree. Maybe later she will seek such a treat.
The stroll went on with little trouble as she neared the commissary for a good bite. Turning on the sidewalk she heads for the door but both ears suddenly raise. Something caught her attention from nearby. Glancing about she sought out a voice that was very familiar to her.
Finally both ears turned backwards as she finally pinpointed the voice. It was sadly too late as she was met with a familiar face leaping at her for a hug. It had been some time since Rachel had seen Michel as she went on a long business trip. The surprise hug had almost sent Rachel over as she is not used to someone jumping at her.
A squeal of happiness escaped as Michel hugged Rachel tightly. “Rachel! It’s so good to see you. I had to come see you as I got back in town. Sorry I have been gone so long.”
Rachel could not resist chuckling as she hugs Michel back. “Why are you sorry? You had work to do. I did it many times in the past for the military. I know your job makes you travel at times. Just means each time you come by it’s more important.”
Nodding Michel pulled away smiling at Rachel. "That's so sweet! You know…that brings up something I wanted to ask for a while." Said looking all giddy and excited. "I know a good pub we can go to. If you have time to go out?"
Rachel blinks a bit at the question confused. "We could go for lunch if you like. It will be easier for us both."
Michel was quick to wave her hands. "No! I meant….It will be ladies night out…you know?"
An ear flops to the side as Rachel ponders on her meaning. After a moment of silence she nods. "Alright. We can have a night of fun. Can't say I have anything else going on."
Michel was quick to bounce up and down excitedly. "Excellent! I have just the dress for the night. Make sure you look pretty as well."
A slight blush grew on Rachel’s face as she thought of a dress. Only one came to mind but she was unsure if it would be a good dress for a day out. “Hrm…I do have one thing I could wear. Yeah, I will wear it and show it to you.”
Michel's eyes grew wide as she squealed “I can’t wait to see you in it. Would you be free tomorrow? I want to try and spend as much time with you.”
Nodding Rachel turns towards the commissary. “Tomorrow? Sure, I am free. I will be sure Simon is aware. In the meantime, come have lunch with me. I will cover your meal and coffee. My next class is not too far off.”
Quickly stepping up beside Rachel she nods with a warm smile. “Sure! You're sweet for offering me lunch. That means I am covering dinner.” Without even asking she grabs Rachel’s hand and leads her on in.
The two would share a meal as they caught up from their time apart. Rachel herself was a bit more lively for the short time they were together. As they parted ways after lunch Rachel returned to her closed off state. Standing behind her a shadow watches the two, a wicked grin forming. Tomorrow would be a day Rachel greatly enjoys.
