Stormwind University Alt Policy
Alts Policy
Alts are easy to create, loads of fun, and all of us have multiple characters on this and other servers. However, alts can cause problems in RP guilds due to confusion as to "who is who" and the neglect of main characters. We have a very strong preference that you join our guild with a "Main" that you intend to spend a decent amount of time with, developing their story, working on goals and achievements, and overall contributing to our atmosphere.
That said, you can bring alts into the guild with a few conditions:
-
All members are required to have ONE MAIN CHARACTER in the guild.
- It is possible to change your main, given new or different RP circumstances, but this decision is required to be submitted to the Officer Team for approval!
***PLEASE NOTE:*** A period of no less than 30 days of acceptable membership attendance must pass before this option can be executed first, and again in the future. A cumulative 30 days' wait time will be added to the original 30 days for each time a Main and Alt are switched for the same player. This is expressly to prevent constant Main hopping, to keep RP storylines consistent and running smoothly for all involved.
-
RP alts MUST BE characters that you intend to roleplay for the purposes of the guild, either as a part of Stormwind University or a cooperative role!
- (The latter, solely pending Officer Team approval and proper event planning, where applicable!)
-
There is currently no limit to the number of OOC alts that one can have on the guild roster, but the amount of RP functional character alts must be at a reasonable level. (At the Officer Team's discretion.) OOC/Alts are rarely, if ever, acceptable to freely RP with University members on a consistent basis.
-
For the sake of storyline and general/open RP continuity within the guild, we continue to expect a reasonable level of participation from your MAIN. Your activity levels on an RP Alt are expected not to exceed those of your Main without good reason and advance notice given to the Officer Team, pending approval.
-
An OOC/Alt status exists for declared non-RP alts. To change an OOC character to a RP character, speak with a member of the Officer Team to schedule an IC Induction/Interview (Similar to, though a lot more casual than, when you joined on your Main RP Character).
- We want the opportunity to bring your new addition into the faculty in a situation where everyone has the chance to acquaint with them right away! Furthermore, we also expect a character sheet to be completed for this new RP character, prior to their invitation into the guild.
-
While we encourage our members to employ RP Alts for added flavor, personal convenience and even the occasional change of pace, we do ask that ALL RP characters in the guild (Main AND Alt) are given due attention and a fair chance for IC growth!
- Character growth, personal and as it pertains to other characters you RP with, must NOT be hindered by a lack of representation or participation by your Main or Alt RP character(s).
- ALL RP Alt characters are designated as Adjunct or Student as dictated by the individual character; Main RP toons start at Assistant Professor rank and can be further promoted in time.
New RP Alts cannot be introduced into the guild until the following criteria are met:
(a.) A Character Sheet for your Main - and the subsequent RP Alt - must be posted to these forums,
(b.) Your Main has spent no less than THIRTY (30) DAYS as part of the IC structure of the guild,
(c.) You must be considered a Member In Good Standing. (Event and general attendance and participation must be at a satisfactory level, at the Officer Team's discretion!), and
(d.) An IC induction process for the intended RP Alt must be carried out as per normal before any active RP should be taking place within or around the guild.
*** IMPORTANT ***
Prospective new RP Alts may only be introduced (prior to induction and official inclusion ICly into the University) at non-official guild events such as our casual "Main Office"/"Library" hangouts or unscheduled, non-calendar social events.
Tiki Tuesday, Literary Conclave and the rest of our community hosted events are NOT permissible occasions for prospective RP Alts to appear and acquaint themselves to current faculty of Stormwind University. (Save for in the event of being booked for a performance or direct participation in said event. When in doubt, ASK a member of the Officer Team!)
You may, however, also discuss a planned encounter with a member of the Officer Team (OOCly) to be scheduled and carried out, pending approval.
Constant disregard of the rules stated above will result in an outright refusal to admit the prospective RP Alt into the guild, or denial of RP opportunity in the case of an OOC/Alt, at the Officer Team's discretion.
Additionally, in cases when the RP Alt's presence and participation has overtaken that of the RP Main, the RP Alt may be removed without warning or prior notice at the Officer Team's discretion. This is what the Main > Alt procedure is for, and hence, the reason why we offer it as an option. It's not the responsibility of the Officer Team to chase the offending member(s) down and insist upon this line of procedure; it's yours to request it and follow through.
